Who we are
Martyn Keates
Martyn started his accountancy career working for a medium sized practice where he gained invaluable experience dealing with SME’s across many industries including construction, engineering, legal and financial services. He then moved into industry and progressed up to Finance Director level working with US owned companies and also owner managed companies across manufacturing, consultancy and software industries.
During his career he has strengthened finance teams by motivating and promoting his staff and also elevated the importance of a finance department by adding value to organisations.
As a board member he has been at the forefront of addressing current issues, seeking opportunities and making business critical decisions to ensure the success of the business. He has particular strength in guiding non-financial managers through the mysteries of accounts and creating a high level of understanding on the impact of decisions that may be taken.
Martyn is keen to support growing companies and help them exceed their expectations by being proactive in the development of systems, processes and business opportunities. He recognises that there are many owner managed business who need to take their financial expertise to the next level and he is passionate about being bridging that gap and helping deliver to the needs of his clients.
Martyn holds memberships as ACA, FCCA, MIC and is also a member of the Institute of Directors and an Associate of FinanceHeads.
Steve Weatherby
Steve is a Big 4 trained, fully qualified Chartered Accountant with a total of 20 years post qualification experience - 5 years in practice with PwC and 15 years experience in industry, specialising in small to medium sized enterprises and owner managed businesses across a variety of sectors. A charismatic individual with a strong can-do attitude Steve takes an active role in guiding companies through transitional stages and taken them to the next level. To help direct businesses he has developed monthly Board packs including analysis of KPI’s, prepared budgets and business plans and created Profit & Loss account, balance sheet and cash flow forecasts.
Steve has a strong outward-facing style and is capable of negotiating contracts / terms and conditions with customers and suppliers in a commercial environment.
Highly computer literate and particularly proficient in Excel Steve is also familiar with a number of accounting packages, specialising in Sage, and has recently attended a number of Sage training courses, including report designer and ODBC. Capable of linking Sage to other applications, such as Excel and Word (using the ODBC link) and can also design bespoke reports to meet clients needs.
Martin Chong
Martin Chong has previously worked with HMRC for a period in excess of 20 years. During that time he achieved considerable success and ultimately led a team of Inspectors carrying out various degrees of enquiries. Having 'retired' from HMRC he is very much 'gamekeeper turned poacher' and, knowing the nuances of the system, is in an enviable position to advise numerous private clients and accountancy practices regarding enquiries. These enquiries can range from the aspect and/or full enquiry through to full reporting cases where, for example, fraud may potentially be a cause for concern. Martin is supporting Action Business Consultants in this role and will provide a comprehensive service for any investigation work required for our clients.
Stacy Pritchard
Stacy has extensive multi company payroll experience spanning 10 years and is pivotal to the success of providing payroll services for clients of Action Business Consultants.
